The

use of a special technique for reading audio data
from regular audio CDs. The technique is called Compact
Disc Digital Audio, for short CDDA and is used on almost
all recent CD-ROM's. It delivers very high
quality digital audio reproduction.The
Advanced CD Players therefore
require a CD-ROM drive which is capable
of CDDA. The CDDA extraction procedure is
called Digital Audio Extraction, or DAE. players require
a CD-ROM which is capable of
performing DAE at least at 2X speed.
The ACD Gold
Advanced CD Player processes the sound
sample using MMX enabled functions for
faster response times.
By utilizing
CDDA to get sound samples ,
the does not require a full
duplex sound card, since
the ACD Gold Player will not try to record
from the CD-ROM and then play back the
processed sound sample, as is the case with
traditional audio players. DAE is a procedure that does
not involves the sound card in any way. The
digital audio data is extracted from the CD-ROM, processed internally by
the using high-speed DSP filters and then played
back as a single half-duplex stream using an
existing sound device.
